The sea was a captivating trend at the Chanel show (in fact the Chanel set was an underwater world) and is a big influence for Spring/Summer 2012. Underwater colour ways and iridescent pearl textures combined to create a magical wash of imagery across the catwalks. Shell like formations and oyster prints together with nymph and sea goddesses continued the theme at Alexander McQueen.
